Nelson City Brass is hosting the 2010 Nelson Marlborough West Coast Regional Brass Band Contest over the weekend of the May 22^nd and 23^rd.  This competition is hosted by Nelson every 5 years when Brass Bands and  players from Marlborough, Nelson and the West Coast Regions including Nelson Vivace Youth Band and Nelson Vivace Junior Band compete in a regional competition  The seven brass bands will compete in a variety of competitions including an entertainment competition and concert. 

On Saturday  22^nd March at 11 a.m.The Brass Band Street March steps off at  Nile St West near the Rutherford hotel and proceeds past Trafalgar Square to Selwyn Place and finishes at the Cathedral Steps.  The public are welcome to enjoy the spectacle. 

The first stage event for all bands is at 2.30 p.m.on the Saturday afternoon

On Sunday 23rd May at 12 noon all the bands compete in the very popular "Light Entertainment" Concert to conclude the weekends' competiton

Brass bands and their members of a variety of ages also compete in solo and ensemble competitions at the Nelson College hall and will commence each day at 9.30 a.m.

Times are approximate only. Programmes will be available on request. Entry to all events for the weekend is $10 or $6 for one day only.  Children are free.
